Small, brightly coloured schooling fish for community aquariums
The Brachydanio tinwini 1.5-2.5cm(Danio tinwini) is presented in our freshwater world. This small, spotted Danio is suitable for well-equipped, moderate-sized community aquariums with a good front length and clear swimming areas.
This lively, gregarious and very active species, native to Asia (Myanmar), prefers a stable, well-filtered, oxygenated aquarium with a light to moderate current. Brachydanio tinwini are best kept in schools of at least 8-10 individuals to reduce stress and encourage natural behaviour. Provide a volume of at least 60-80 L (shoal). Use starter bacteria and check your parameters regularly with water tests.
Omnivorous, this species readily accepts fine flakes, micro-granules and frozen food (artemia, daphnia, cyclops). Vary the diet with our specially adapted foods to support colour and vitality. Small live prey (micro-worms, artemia nauplii) stimulate its natural behaviour. Avoid overfeeding and remove uneaten leftovers to preserve water quality.
Before use, treat the water with a water conditioner. Efficient filtration with good mixing(suitable filters) and regular maintenance(maintenance equipment, weekly water changes) guarantee a healthy environment. This species is sensitive to nitrite peaks.
Choose a neutral aquarium substrate and natural plants, dense at the back and sides, leaving a large free-swimming area in the centre. Look after the lighting with our aquarium lighting and add decorations (roots, rocks) to structure the space. A lid is recommended: like many danios, this species can jump.
