Corydoras arcuatus 3-3,5cm Wild(Corydoras arcuatus)
Peaceful bottom fish for community aquariums
The Corydoras arcuatus 3-3.5cm Wild(Corydoras arcuatus), also known as Corydoras "skunk", is presented in our freshwater world. It is suitable for well-equipped, communal aquariums with a suitable floor and plenty of hiding places. Sales size: juveniles around 3-3.5 cm.
Behaviour and maintenance
A peaceful, gregarious species native to the Amazon Basin (South America), it thrives in a stable, well-filtered, oxygenated aquarium with a gentle current. Corydoras are best kept in groups of at least 6-8 individuals to reduce stress and encourage natural behaviour. Provide a volume of at least 80 L (group). Use starter bacteria and check your parameters regularly with water tests.
Diet
A predominantly benthic omnivore, this species scours the ground for food. They will happily accept groundfish pellets, sinking granules, frozen food (artemia, mud worms, daphnia) and small live prey. Vary your ration with our adapted foods to support growth and vitality. Avoid relying solely on 'leftovers': feed your Corydoras specifically and remove any surplus to preserve water quality.
Water quality
- Ideal temperature: 22 - 26°C
- pH: 6.0 - 7.5
- GH: 3 - 12 °dGH
- KH: 1 - 8 °dKH
- Conductivity: 150 - 400 µS
Before use, treat the water with a water conditioner. Efficient filtration with gentle stirring(suitable filters) and regular maintenance(maintenance equipment, weekly water changes) guarantee a healthy environment. Corydoras are sensitive to nitrite peaks and irritating substances (medicines, salt).
Decor and environment
Choose an aquarium substrate such as fine sand or very rounded gravel to protect their barbels. Add natural plants, roots and dead leaves to create shady areas. Look after the lighting with our aquarium lighting and add decorations (rocks, hiding places) to provide plenty of refuges.
