Corydoras Venezuela Orange 2-2,5cm(Corydoras cf. aeneus)
Peaceful, robust orange-bottomed Corydoras for the community aquarium
The Corydoras Venezuela Orange 2-2,5cm is a selected form of Corydoras cf. aeneus, appreciated for its orange/copper colour contrasting with a darker mask. Offered here in a size of 2-2.5 cm (young specimens), it will fit perfectly into our freshwater world and is suitable for well-equipped aquariums.
Behaviour & maintenance
The Corydoras Venezuela Orange is a very peaceful, gregarious bottom-dwelling fish, ideal for the community aquarium. It should be kept in groups of at least 6 individuals to reduce stress and observe natural behaviour.
- A bottom-dwelling fish, it is always on the lookout for food on the substrate.
- Very sociable with other small and medium-sized calm fish.
- Can cope well with life in a community, as long as it avoids aggressive or overly lively species.
Provide an aquarium of at least 80 litres for a group, with sufficient floor space. Ensure good filtration and well-oxygenated water. The use of starter bacteria is recommended to stabilise the cycle before introduction.
Feeding
The Corydoras is an omnivore with micro-predator tendencies. It scavenges in search of small prey and organic debris.
- Will happily accept sinking pellets, groundfish pellets and complete foods.
- Supplement with frozen/live food (artemia, daphnia, mud worms, etc.).
- Avoid relying solely on leftovers from other fish.
See our range of foods for bottom-dwelling fish. In planted tanks, remember to support plant growth with aquarium fertiliser.
Water quality
- Ideal temperature: 22 - 27°C
- pH: 6.0 - 7.5
- GH: 3 - 12 °dGH
- KH: 1 - 6 °KH
- Conductivity: 100 - 300 µS
Before use, treat the water with a water conditioner to neutralise chlorine and heavy metals. Check your parameters regularly with water tests and carry out weekly water changes (approx. 20-30%).
Decor & environment
Corydoras spend most of their time on the bottom of the aquarium. They need a suitable substrate and a reassuring environment:
- Very fine substrate: sand or rounded gravel to avoid damaging its barbels.
- Shaded areas created by roots, rocks and plants.
- Dead leaves, hiding places and quiet areas for resting.
For a harmonious decor, choose an aquarium substrate, natural plants and appropriate lighting. Add decorations to provide additional hiding places.
