Neocaridina Heteropoda Blue Dream 1-1,5cm
Neocaridina heteropoda "Blue Dream" 1-1,5cm(Neocaridina davidi)
Intense blue dwarf ornamental shrimp for community planted aquariums
The Neocaridina heteropoda "Blue Dream" 1-1.5cm(Neocaridina davidi) is presented in our freshwater world. It is suitable for well-equipped community or special aquariums, rich in plants and microfauna.
Behaviour and maintenance
A calm, gregarious species bred from Neocaridina davidi, it thrives in a stable, well-filtered, oxygenated aquarium with plenty of plants (mosses, fine plants, roots). Allow for a volume of at least 20 litres (group). Small, peaceful fish that do not excessively predate juveniles can live together. Use starter bacteria and check your parameters regularly with water tests.
Diet
Omnivorous / detritivorous / algivorous, this species feeds on biofilm, micro-algae and food scraps. Vary your ration with our shrimp foods (pellets, sticks, vegetable crisps) to support colour and vitality. Supplement with vegetable-based foods (nettle, spinach, courgette). Avoid overfeeding and remove uneaten leftovers to preserve water quality.
Water quality
- Ideal temperature: 20 - 26 °C
- pH: 6.5 - 7.8
- GH: 5 - 15 °dGH
- KH: 3 - 10 °KH
- Conductivity: 150 - 400 µS
Before introduction, treat the water with a water conditioner. Gentle but effective filtration(suitable filters) and regular maintenance(maintenance equipment, weekly water changes) ensure a healthy environment. Shrimps are sensitive to heavy metals (copper) and sudden variations in water parameters.
Decor and environment
Choose a neutral or slightly technical aquarium substrate and natural plants (mosses, fine-stemmed plants, Anubias, Java ferns). Look after the lighting with our aquarium lighting and complement it with decorations (roots, rocks) that offer plenty of hiding places and support for biofilm. A dark floor and decor will particularly enhance the deep blue of the "Blue Dream" variety.
