Peckoltia compta "L134" Male (Tiger Pleco)
Small zebra pleco - beautiful, peaceful and easy to maintain
Peckoltia compta, code L134, is also known as Tiger Pleco for its contrasting yellow and black stripes. Native to the Rio Tapajós (Brazil), this small Loricariid is highly prized for community aquariums and well-planted Amazonian tanks. The specimen shown here is an adult male, recognisable by its more developed odontodes on the cheeks and pectoral fins.
Behaviour & maintenance
A calm, nocturnal fish that is territorial with its fellow fish. It should be kept alone, in pairs or in small groups (in a large area). Likes to hide in caves or hollow roots during the day. Allow a minimum of 80 litres per fish.
Diet
Omnivorous with carnivorous tendencies:
- Protein-rich bottom pellets
- Bloodworms, prawns, mussels, artemia
- Occasional plant supplements (spirulina, courgette)
It is not an algae cleaner. Feed in the evening to respect its natural rhythm.

Aquabota tip
For breeding, offer several tubes or narrow caves. The male guards the eggs and protects the fry until they are free-swimming. Fresh water changes can trigger egg-laying.
