Blue Sapphire Shrimp (Neocaridina davidi “Blue Sapphire”)
Deep blue freshwater shrimp, elegant and easy to keep
Neocaridina davidi "Blue Sapphire" is a farmed variety prized for its intense, uniform dark blue colouring, which is deeper than that of the Blue Jelly and slightly translucent depending on the grade. It adds a refined, modern touch to planted aquariums and shrimp-specific tanks.
1. Behaviour and maintenance
A calm, gregarious and active species, to be kept in groups of at least 10 individuals to ensure natural behaviour and regular reproduction. It cohabits easily with peaceful fish and helps to maintain the tank by consuming microalgae, biofilm and food remains.
2. Water parameters
- Temperature: 20–26 °C
- pH: 6.5–7.5
- GH: 6–12 °dGH
- KH: 2–8 °KH
- Minimum volume: 20 L
3. Feeding
Omnivorous: specific shrimp food, poached vegetables (courgette, spinach), dried leaves (catappa, nettle) and natural biofilm. A varied diet promotes colour intensity and good moulting.
