WIO Wood ScapeGlue Kit 30 g + 2 x 100 ml
Product Description
The WIO Wood ScapeGlue Kit is a comprehensive adhesive set designed for aquascaping and terrarium use. It features a 30 g tube of high-viscosity cyanoacrylate gel glue along with two 100 ml bottles (one accelerator and one glue remover) to ensure quick and convenient application. The Wood edition of ScapeGlue is formulated to achieve maximum bonding strength on natural wood, roots, and other porous materials. This makes it ideal for securing hardscape pieces like driftwood, branches, or porous rocks in your aquarium or terrarium. The glue is also perfect for attaching aquatic plants (such as mosses, ferns, Anubias) onto wood or stone instantly. Once cured, it becomes inert and is safe for fish, shrimp, reptiles, and live plants. The kit is suitable for use in freshwater and marine aquariums, as well as in paludariums and terrariums.
Note: WIO ScapeGlue is available in two versions: Wood (this product) and Black. The Wood version is optimized for a subtle, invisible bond on natural wood and light-colored or porous surfaces, whereas the Black version (a black-tinted adhesive, sold separately) is formulated to blend seamlessly with dark rocks or backgrounds in your scape.
Key Features
- Made for Aquascaping: High-quality cyanoacrylate gel glue that provides a strong, long-lasting bond for aquarium and terrarium hardscape elements (wood, stone, plants).
- Fast Curing: The included accelerator spray allows the glue to set within seconds, even on damp surfaces. This instant cure feature lets you build your aquascape quickly without prolonged waiting times.
- “Wood” Formula: Specially formulated for bonding wood and porous materials. It penetrates wood fibers and creates a secure hold with a clear, non-whitening finish that remains inconspicuous on natural wood once dried.
- Complete Kit: Provides everything you need: a 30 g ScapeGlue Wood adhesive tube, a 100 ml activator spray for immediate bonding, and a 100 ml glue remover solution to clean off excess glue or undo bonds if necessary.
- Safe for Aquatic Life: Non-toxic to fish, shrimp, corals, or plants once cured. It does not alter water chemistry, making it suitable for use in planted freshwater tanks and marine reef aquariums without harm to inhabitants or biofilter.
- Versatile Application: Ideal for terrariums and paludariums as well – you can reliably attach wood, stones, or even affix epiphytic plants in humid, tropical enclosures. The glue will even cure in wet conditions or under water, allowing for underwater use if needed.
Kit Contents
- 1 × Tube of WIO ScapeGlue Wood – 30 g cyanoacrylate gel glue (aquarium-safe adhesive).
- 1 × Activator Spray – 100 ml (speeds up glue curing instantaneously upon application).
- 1 × Glue Remover solution – 100 ml (helps dissolve cured glue residue or detach bonded components when required).
Instructions for Use
- Surface Preparation: Ensure the items to be glued (wood, stone, plant base) are clean and dry. For best results, work on dry surfaces, though the glue can be applied on slightly wet materials or even underwater if necessary. It’s advisable to wear disposable gloves to avoid contact with the adhesive.
- Apply the Glue: Apply a small drop or thin layer of ScapeGlue Wood to one of the surfaces. For instance, put a dab on the driftwood or rock where you want to attach a plant, or on one piece of wood/rock to bond it to another. The gel consistency keeps the glue from running, allowing precise placement.
- Join the Pieces: Immediately press the two parts together in the desired position. Example: press the plant (or moss) onto the wood, or hold two rocks together. Keep them firmly in place for a few seconds so the initial bond can form. The glue will grab quickly even before fully curing.
- Activate (Optional for Instant Bond): Lightly mist the accelerator spray over the glued joint from about 10–20 cm away. The activator will cause the adhesive to harden almost instantly (usually 1–3 seconds). Use sparingly – a small spritz is enough. Excess activator can cause a white residue (from rapid curing) or generate heat.
- Finishing Up: Allow a few minutes for the bond to fully strengthen. Gently wipe away any excess glue before it hardens (a paper towel works if the glue is still wet). If the glue has already cured and excess needs removal, use the provided glue remover solution to soften and wipe it off. You can also build up bonds in layers: apply additional glue for reinforcement and use the accelerator again, if needed, until the desired strength is achieved.
- Reinstallation: Once the glue has completely cured (usually in mere minutes, especially if accelerator was used), the bonded item can be returned to the aquarium or terrarium. If a large amount of accelerator was applied, it’s a good idea to briefly rinse the object in freshwater before putting it back with live animals, just to remove any solvent residue. Otherwise, you can immediately submerge the piece back into the tank without concern.
Precautions for Use
- Cyanoacrylate Adhesive – Danger: Bonds skin and eyes in seconds. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing. Always handle with care. If fingers become stuck, do not pull them apart forcefully – instead, use the glue remover or soak the area in warm soapy water and gently roll the skin to separate.
- Irritating Fumes: Use in a well-ventilated area. The glue and accelerator emit fumes that may irritate the respiratory tract, eyes, or skin. Do not inhale vapors. It is recommended to wear protective gloves and eye protection when applying the glue, especially if spraying the accelerator.
- Flammable Aerosol: The activator spray contains flammable solvents. Keep away from open flames, sparks, or heat sources. Do not smoke during use. Only spray for a very short duration and never directly at electrical equipment or hot surfaces. Allow the area to air out after use.
- Storage: Store the kit in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight and out of reach of children. Keep the containers tightly closed when not in use to prolong product life. Store upright to prevent leakage. Extreme temperatures may degrade the glue quality.
- Use as Directed: Only use this kit for its intended purpose of bonding aquarium/terrarium decor and similar non-structural applications. Do not use it for load-bearing repairs or on the aquarium’s structural seams. Do not ingest. Avoid gluing directly onto live animals. When using on live plants, apply to hardy parts (like roots or rhizomes) and avoid smothering the leaves.
- First Aid: In case of eye contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for several minutes and seek medical attention. If adhesive contacts skin, wash with warm soapy water; for bonded skin, use a debonder or seek medical assistance if necessary. If inhaled and breathing becomes difficult, get fresh air and seek medical advice. If swallowed, rinse mouth and contact a doctor – do not induce vomiting.
Compatibility & Applications
- Freshwater Aquariums: Perfect for planted tanks and community aquariums. Use it to attach driftwood, stones, or plants securely under water or during tank setup. Cured glue will not harm fish, shrimp, or aquatic plants, and it will not affect water clarity or parameters.
- Saltwater/Marine Aquariums: Suitable for reef tanks and marine setups. Ideal for gluing coral frags to frag plugs or live rock (typically done out of water; allow the glue to cure for a minute before returning the coral to the tank). The adhesive withstands saltwater conditions and is reef-safe once cured.
- Terrariums & Paludariums: Great for vivarium construction, whether arid or humid. Use it in terrariums to fix climbing branches, cork bark, or other decorations. In paludariums or rainforest terraria, it works even with high humidity. It’s excellent for mounting epiphytic plants like orchids or bromeliads onto backgrounds or wood pieces securely.
- Other Hobbies: Beyond aquascaping, this kit can be handy for various DIY projects and model-making where quick and strong glue bonds are needed. However, it is primarily formulated for hobby aquatics and terrarium use, so always heed safety guidelines and ensure the suitability of the materials you are bonding.
