Description

JBL ProScape Mount Aso Soil – Volcanic active aquarium substrate

JBL ProScape Mount Aso Soil is a natural active substrate sourced from the volcanic area surrounding Mount Aso in Japan. Specially selected for planted aquariums and aquascaping, it creates favourable conditions for the development of aquatic plants and beneficial microorganisms.

Its porous structure provides a large colonisation area for beneficial bacteria. It also promotes water circulation through the substrate and gives aquarium plants excellent root support.

For soft and slightly acidic aquarium water

JBL ProScape Mount Aso Soil helps create water conditions suitable for aquatic plants and livestock that prefer soft, slightly acidic water. It helps reduce carbonate hardness and supports a stable pH within a range suitable for many tropical aquariums.

The active surface can retain excess nutrients and make them available to plants when required. It can also help bind colouring agents and certain substances responsible for cloudy water.

Benefits of JBL ProScape Mount Aso Soil

Suitable aquariums

This active substrate is particularly suitable for:

  • planted aquariums;
  • aquascaping layouts;
  • nano aquariums;
  • shrimp aquariums;
  • species that prefer soft and slightly acidic water.

Directions for use

  1. Rinse the substrate very briefly with clean water before use.
  2. Add a layer approximately 5 to 8 cm deep.
  3. Create a higher layer towards the rear to give the layout greater visual depth.
  4. Plant the aquarium before filling it slowly with water.
  5. Regularly monitor the pH, KH and other water parameters during the start-up period.

For aquascapes with substantial differences in height, JBL ProScape Mount Aso Soil can be combined with a volcanic base layer. This improves water circulation and helps stabilise the structure of the layout.
